[The swarm on rats are surging ahead, towards Miroku.]

[Miroku is watching the rats from a vantage point on top of Kirara.]
MIROKU …..
FX:
rats - scree scree scree
MIROKU (thinking) All of those rats… are heading for this way…
The Mayose tree was broken down!?
[Miroku
takes the rosary beads from his hand, preparing Kazaana.]
MIROKU Damn.
*NOTE: Mayose translates to
“Devil Gathering.”
MIROKU KAZAANA!
FX:
kazaana - WHOOSH!
[A large number of rats are being drawn into the kazaana. Miroku looks a bit worried.]
[As he continues to draw in the rats, he notices several are escaping from him.]
MIROKU This isn’t good. I can’t draw them all in
Their numbers are just too great!
[Sango and Kohaku are once again battling. Sango seems to have the upper hand, although it’s more likely because Kohaku is only defending himself.]
FX:
Sango – Hiraikotsu CRACK
SANGO Kohaku! Give the zushi to me!
[Close up on Sango]
SANGO Break that zushi apart, and the rats will go away!
You have to remember, Kohaku, that you…
…you’re a youkai-exterminator!
KOHAKU …..
[Kohaku seems to be affected by this. He looks strained.]
KOHAKU Those saimyuhou are watching…
NOTES: Zushi is a small miniature shrine found in temples.
Saimyushou
are the name given to poisonous bee-like insects that Naraku uses.
[Kohaku looks strained and upset.]
KOHAKU (thinking) I just need to act like this a little longer,
as if I’m not betraying Naraku…
[A vision of the baby that holds Naraku’s heart.]
KOHAKU Otherwise…
I won’t be able to get to that baby with Naraku’s heart.
[Sango dives at him with the Hiraikotsu.]
FX: Sango – Hirakotsu WHAM
[Close up of Sango, using the taijya chain.]
[She uses the chain to wrap around Kohaku’s ankle.]
FX:
chain RATTLE
[Sango has lassoed Kohaku’s ankles. He falls to his knees.]
[Close up of Kohaku looking intently up at Sango. He throws his own taijya-chain back towards her.]
FX:
chains CLANG
[Sango blocks with the hiraikotsu. The chains hit the hiraikotsu and wrap around it.]
FX:
hiraikotsu SLASH
SANGO You can’t run away!
[Suddenly hears a sound rumbling behind her.]
SANGO !?
[She and Kohaku look back to see that the swarm of rats is now stampeding in their direction.]
[A view of the rats show that there’s even more of them on the way.]
FX:
rats - SCREE SCREE SCREE RUMBLE RUMBLE
[Now both of them are worried.]
KOHAKU (shocked thinking) The rats?!
[SCENE CHANGE: The mayose tree is starting to wither away.]
FX:
Tree – hiss hiss hiss
[Another vies of the rats and the remnants of Hakudoushi’s slug-monster. The rats appear to have no order about them, and they’re running about, unguided.]
[Inuyasha is still destroying the remains of Hakudoushi’s monster on the tree.]
INUYASHA
LAST ONE!
FX:
Inuyasha – SLASH
[The monster pieces fall to the ground, where Kagome and Shippou are.]
FX:
monster – WHUMP
[Closeup of the rats. They’re still pretty disorganized…]
SHIPPOU Damn, the rats aren’t climbing up the Mayose tree anymore.
KAGOME It’s dying…
[The tree is indeed looking rather sickly…]
[Suddenly the rats are swarming towards the two of them.]
SHIPPOU Eh!?
They’re coming for us!
KAGOME !
[Inuyasha sees this and swoops down from the tree.]
INUYASHA Damn!
Even if I destroy them, they keep multiplying.
Geez, these difficult rats!
[Inuyasha dives in front of Kagome and Shippou to attack the rats.]
INUYASHA
SANKONTESSOU!
INUYASHA SHIPPOU! Stop your daydreaming and transform!!
Get away from here!
SHIPPOU We’re running away?
[Inuyasha turns to face him.]
INUYASHA The mayose tree is useless.
We gotta go to the broken zushi.
[Aw, rats. More rats. Now the swarm is totally out of control. There is absolutely no order about them, and they seem to be going wild.]
[Inuyasha and Kagome are riding on Shippou, who has transformed into his balloon form.]
KAGOME This is bad! The line of rats is starting to break up!
INUYASHA Can’t you fly any faster?!
SHIPPOU You’re heavy, you IDIOT.
[SCENE CHANGE: Back to where Sango, Kohaku, Miroku, and Kirara are. More rats.]
MIROKU SANGO!
FX:
Kirara – SWOOSH
SANGO Houshi-sama…
MIROKU You must hurry and break apart the zushi! \
[The rats are closing in. Aw, rats.]
FX:
rats – rumble rumble
[Kohaku takes advantage of her distration and tries to wrestle free from the chains.]
SANGO Wha…?
[Sango
and Kohaku battle it again. Sango rushes him with the hiraikotsu.]
FX:
Sango – hiraikotsu WHAM WHAM
[Closeup of Sango, looking rather desparate.]
SANGO Don’t you understand, Kohaku?
At this rate, you’re going to become easy prey for those rats!
[Closeup of Kohaku. He understands alright, but he’s still looking rather worried/]
KOHAKU (thinking) But then Naraku would surely…
…have ordered me in that way.
Even if it means I’ll die protecting this zushi.
[From behind them, the rats are getting even closer.]
[Sango sees the rats coming. She throws herself at Kohaku to protect him.]
KOHAKU !
A…
(thinking) Ane-ue!
[Suddenly Miroku is between them and the rats, using the kazaana to draw the rats in.]
FX:
Miroku – RUSH
FX: Kazaana – SWOOSH
[Kohaku once again uses the opportunity to break free. This time he succeeds.]
SANGO KOHAKU!!
MIROKU Sango! Ride on Kirara!
It’s dangerous for you to be on the ground!
[Sango jumps onto Kirara.]
FX:
Kirara – SWOOSH
[Now Kohaku is running across the ground, but the rats are closing in on him.]
KOHAKU !
[The rats rush at him.]
[The rats are suddenly charging in around Kohaku. He seems to be completely surrounded.]
[They begin to swarm on top of him.]
SANGO
KOHAKU!!!
[Miroku looks back, from where he’s still using the kazaana to draw in the rats.]
[Sango is back on the ground, desparately trying to free Kohaku from the swarm of attacking rats.]
[The zushi falls to the ground.]
FX:
zushi – CLATTER
[Sango is above it with the hiraikotsu, ready to smash it open.]
SANGO If I break this apart…
[Sango brings the hiraikotsu smashing down on the zushi. But there appears to be a crackling enery around it.]
FX:
Hiraikotsu – WHAM!
FX:
energy – crackle
SANGO Wha…?
The box can’t be broken?
MIROKU There’s a magic barrier protecting it?
[And the rats are back. Now they’re swarming all around Sango.]
SANGO !
MIROKU
Quickly! You must escape, Sango!!
[The rats are completely surrounding Sango and Kohaku.]
SANGO Kohaku….
[SCENE CHANGE: Inuyasha, Kagome and Shippou are rushing towards the scene.]
[Inuyasha jumps off of Shippou.]
KAGOME Inuyasha!
INUYASHA I’ll go ahead!
[Inuyasha’s foot lands on the ground, right near some of the rats.]
FX:
Inuyasha – THUMP
INUYASHA It’s the smell of blood…
DAMMIT! I have a bad feeling about this…
