[A darkeneing sky. Looks like its either close to sunset of it's a bit overcast with stormclouds.]

[A group of warriors are marching across the field. The leaders in front are on horseback.]

WARRIOR
Well then… one remaining mountain to cross, and we'll be home.

[Something stops them. A sudden gust of wind from above...]

[FX: wind - *whoosh!*]

WARRIORS
Hmm?

[Above them, a giant youkai, one that looks like it's in the form of a giant eel/catfish, is swoopiong through the sky...]

WARRIOR
Wha…?

[The giant youkai makes a dive towards them.]

[FX: youkai - WHOOSH!]

[The warriors look up into what looks like glowing light...]

WARRIOR
Eh…

[And they're all snatched up in the enormous toothed mouth of the youkai. Mmm... bite-sized morsels for lunch!]

[FX: youkai - *SWOOP!* *WHAM WHAM WHAM!*

WARRIORS
GWAHHH…

"Mmm...SAMURAI-sized!"

[Scene change. Now it's a view of Kohaku and Hakudoushi. The two are riding in a glowing sphere of light. Kohaku is kneeling behind Hakudoushi. It looks as if he's got something on his mind...]

[FX: sphere - *swoop*]

KOHAKU
.....

[Kohaku's thoughts... he's remembering a conversation he had with Kagura earlier.]

KOHAKU
(flashback) Crystals... of youki?

KAGURA
Yeah.

3 (OVERLAY)
[A view of Kohaku, replaying the memory in his mind.]

[A view of him and Kagura sitting around what looks like a pile of Gakusanjin's youki crystals.]

KAGURA
It's a youki-barrier… (fuyouheki) if we move close to the stone, the youki disappears.

[Kagura holds up a crystal, examining it.]

KAGURA
Perhaps Nararku is bringing the youki-barrier to the baby.

[Kohaku holds up one of the crystals to take a look at them himself as Kagura still speaks.]

KAGURA (OFF)
So that means that this crystal will help us find the baby.

[Back to the present time. Kohaku is looking intensely at Hakudoushi, who is turned away at the moment...]

KOHAKU
(thinking) If I can defeat that baby, Naraku and then that Hakudoushi will also die.

[Hakudoushi looks blissfully oblivious to the murderous thoughts of his charge. In fact, he looks a bit charmed at something.]

HAKUDOUSHI
Look, Kohaku. Souls of the dead.

"And we'll start with a light show!"

[And now a view of what has Hakudoushi so intrigued. In the distance, there's what looks like dozens of glowing souls, all streaking into the sky.]

[FX: souls - *swoop*]

[Kohaku looks a little confused.]

KOHAKU
Souls of the dead…?

HAKUDOUSHI
It seems like a great number have been consumed.

[Close view of Hakudoushi.]

HAKUDOUSHI
They're consumed by the youkai "Haku."
Let's hunt, Kohaku.

[And a view, looking up towards the belly of the haku youkai. Above it, we see the glowing sphere of light that's carrying Hakudoushi and Kohaku...]

[FX: youkai - *whoosh* sphere - *energy hum*]

[The ball of light slams through the youkai. Using his naginata, Hakudoushi slices it cleanly in two, through where the neck would be.]

[FX: Hakudoushi - *WHAM!*]

[Now Hakudoushi and Kohaku are sitting atop the dead haku youkai. Now we can get a sense of the enormity of this thing...]

HAKUDOUSHI
Split open its belly. Be sure not to tear the stomach.

"I think I'm going vegan after seeing this..."

[As Kohaku splits open the flesh of the youkai, we see that the insides are filled with spheres of some sort.]

[FX: sickle - *slice*]

[Kohaku is looking down at the opening, his face bathed in a glow.]

KOHAKU
What is this…? It's filled with lights….

[A view of Hakudoushi, looking rather nonchalant. As usual.]

HAKUDOUSHI
These are human haku. The prey of the youkai "Haku."

[Kohaku looks up at Hakudoushi, a bit confused by this term. (But weren't we all?)]

KOHAKU
Haku...?

[Hakudoushi ignores Kohaku's inquiry, and instead turns his attention to the matter at hand.]

HAKUDOUSHI
Heh-heh-heh... Now then, I wonder how we'll use them...

[Cloudy frame: Scene change]

[Elsewhere... probably not too far from this last encounter though, since the terrain looks the same. The two wolves, Ginta and Hakkaku, are chasing after Kouga, who is rushing off in a whirl of wind...]

GINTA
Wa~a~a~ait, Kouga.

[FX: Kouga - *WHOOSH!]

[A large view of Kouga, running. Ginta and Hokkaku are racing in the back, trying desparately to kep up with him.]

[fx: Kouga - *WHOOSH*]

GINTA
We said wa~a~a~ait!

KOUGA
WHAT ARE YOU WHINING ABOUT!

[Ginta and Hokkaku are trying to get him to at least pay attention to them.]

GINTA
Don't you think it's strange!?

[Hokkaku gestures around him.]

HOKKAKU
Just look around at the surroundings!

[Kouga notices something.]

KOUGA
Huh?

[Kouga suddenly comes to a stop. In front of the three of them, the terrain is littered with pieces of torn-up youkai. A leg here, a head there... looks like a buffet for the morbid.]

[FX: Kouga - *rustle*]

[Close up of the two other wolves.]

[FX: *pant pant* *wheeze wheeze*]

GINTA
Even all the way here, it's covered with youkai remains…

HOKKAKU
And yet, they're continually increasing, aren't they?

[Close up of Kouga.]

KOUGA
And that's why… we should hurry up and head in that direction.

[Ginta and Hokkaku look on towards Kouga, looking a rather haggard.]

GINTA
Head towards it…

HOKKAKU
(thinking) I knew it…

[Kouga, for the most part, is lost in his own thoughts.]

KOUGA
The smell of blood from the remains up ahead is newer. It means that whoever did this is near.

[Close up of Kouga talking.]

KOUGA
I don't know how this concerns Naraku... it's been a while since we've had any clues.

[A view of the youkai littering the ground.]

[fx: wind - *light howl*]

[In the distance, something appears. It looks big, it looks ugly... and it's coming towards them.]

[fx: figure - *RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE*]

KOUGA-TACHI
!

[As the creature rushes towards them, Ginta and Hokkaku look alarmed. Kouga just looks totally confused.]

GINTA
Wha-a-a...

[fx: creature - *RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE*]

[And a huge, ugly youkai-ish looking creature rushes out towards Kouga. It looks like it's made from a bunch of youkai parts; a snake/dragon-like head, mantis-like legs, tendrils and other parts haphazardly spliced together... How charming.]

[fx: youkai - *SWISH!*]

[A closer view of its head as it attacks Kouga. Ah yes, looks like something you would just not want to run into when you're alone in a darkened alley...]

[Close up of Kouga, who is saring at the youkai, looking rather confused, yet a bit intent.]

KOUGA
(thinking) What's with that youkai? It looks as if it's youkai remains that were patched together...

[The youkai slams into the ground in front of Kouga, trying to capture him in its mouth.]

KOUGA
HA!

[fx: youkai - *WHAM WHAM WHAM WHAM!*]

[And Kouga responds by giving the youkai a swift kick in the face.]

[FX: Kouga - *WHACK!*]

"And your breath stinks, too!"

[That manages to knock the youkai back. It gets hurled across the ground away from Kouga.]

[fx: youkai - *WHAM WHAM WHAM* Kouga - *swoop*]

[Gina and Hakkaku get ready to run away from the battle.]

GINTA
N-now, Kouga!

HAKKAKU
Get outta there!

[Kouga looks over his shoulder at them, furious.]

KOUGA
YOU IDIOTS!

[Closer view of Kouga as he again rushes at the youkai.]

KOUGA
Are you going run away and neglect a suspicious-looking youkai like this!?

[Cloudy frame: Scene change.]

[Miroku is standing in front of the group. It looks like they're coming over a hill, into a bit of a clearing. Miroku appears to be holding one of Gakusanjin's youki-crystals in his hand.]

SANGO
What's wrong, Houshi-sama?

MIROKU
I don't really know. We aren't close to the youki-barrier.

[Miroku holds up the crystal , examining it. It's still glowing with youki.]

MIROKU
If we have these youki crystals, I think we'll catch up to where Naraku escaped to soon.

[Side view of Miroku and Sango, speaking to Inuaysha.]

SANGO
Naraku's heart…?

MIROKU
Is that right? Inuyasha.

INUYASHA
Yeah.

[A view of Inuaysha as he talks, with a view of Kikyou overlaid in the background, as if in his thoughts...]

INUYASHA
At least… that's what Kikyou said.

KIKYOU
(flashback) Naraku's heart is outside of his body.

[Shippou leaps up onto Inuyasha's shoulder, looking a little curiosu.]

[fx: Shippou - *pop up*]

SHIPPOU
Hey, Inuyasha. Is that the only thing you talked with Kikyou about?

[Inuyasha looks a bit annoyed.]

INUYASHA
Yes, that's alll.

[Kagome isn't quite buying it. She's looking over at them, a little narrow-eyed. Actually looks like she's annoyed and angry...]

KAGOME
(thinking) But you know, if it was like that, the two of you wouldn't be talking so sneakily…
So-o-o-mehow, it just feels bad.

"Do you smell what I smell?"
"I smell nothing. Just keep walking."

[Sango and Miroku are now standing in the front, flanked by Inuyasha and Kagome. Inuyasha is looking over at Kagome, a bit perturbed, while Kagome is standing WELL away from him, looking irritable. Swirly atmospheric effects add to the scene...]

SANGO
Somehow there's some weird atmosphere back there…

MIROKU
Just bear it. This is quite normal.

[Then Inuyasha catches the scent of something.]

INUYASHA
Hm?

[He turns to Miroku, pressing.]

INUYASHA
Hey, it's the scent of a youkai.

[A scene probably just after this. As the group is rushing over the terrain, they notice the youkai remins littering the area.]

[Now the group is in persuit; Sango and Miroku ride atop Kirara, and Inuyasha carries Kagome on his back.]

MIROKU
There's youkai remains scattered about...

INUYASHA
.......

[Inuyasha looks back at Kagome, on his back.]

INUYASHA
Hey, Kagome. You can't be upset forever.

[Kagome looks away from his face, annoyed.]

KAGOME
I'm NOT upset.

INUYASHA
Well, then why do you have that attitude?

[Closer frame of Inuyasha, talking back at her. He looks a bit strained and irritated now.]

INUYASHA
I'm telling you, Kikyou and I didn't have a shady talk at all!

[Kaome is still looking away. She doesn't look like she's buying it...]

KAGOME
Yeah, I know. Shut up already.

[Inuyasha completely flips out over that and yells back at her.]

INUYASHA
Wha...! Why the hell are you telling me to shut up, you jerk!

[Short-lived argument. Kagome gets suddenly senses something.]

KAGOME
!
I can feel a Shikon fragment...

[View of Kagome and Inuyasha]

KAGOME
Two of them... It's Kouga-kun!

[Inuyasha looks less than thrilled... probably THE best expression on his face in the entire chapter... XD]

[fx: Inuaysha - *veinpop*]

[Kagome looks imploringly over to Inuyasha.]

KAGOME
What's wrong with you? Hurry, Inuaysha!

INUYASHA
AH, SHUT UP!

[Kouga isn't having such a good time. He's still battling with the youkai from before, trying to beat through it with his Shikon-enhanced kicking.]

KOUGA
GA-A-A-A-AH!

[fx: Kouga/youkai - *WHA-A-A-A-A-AM!*]

[Kouga lands off to the side as the youkai again falls to the ground. This time, it seems to have worked. The youkai is breaking apart...]

[fx: youkai - *slam slideacrossgravelraaaaah*]

[The youkai hits the ground, and looks like it explodes. Spheres of light start to erupt from inside its body...]

[fx: youkai - *BA-WOOSH!8]

[Ginta and Hakkaku look on, alarmed.]

GINTA
S…something came out!

[And Inuyasha, Kagome, Sango, Miroku, Shippou, and Kirara arrive on the scene. They see what's going on and...]

KAGOME
That's...
