Kagami no naka no Mugenjou Goodies

Heh-heh... scans and information on some of the fun stuff I've come across for the second Inuyasha movie, which was released in 2002 in Japan.

DVD Release - Japan

INUYASHA: KAGAMI NO NAKA NO MUGENJOU
Special Edition (DVD + bonus CD)

Shogakukan Video
(8/21/2003)
Color, Region 2, Dolby Digital 5.1 ch

When I first got my DVD, I was completely blown away at the picture clarity and the beautiful sound quality. I'd seen Mugenjou before on video, but of course having my own DVD was certainly... well... I was all giddy for DAYS. :P

But in addition to the movie itself, the DVD contains a lot of added goodies, including commercials, and television specials that were aired to promote the release of the movie in Japan. Quite a fun thing to watch. :)

It also includes screens of the concept art from the movie, of characters like Kaguya-hime, and also a few layout/scenery artwork, in case you've ever wondered what certain things look like in ink and pen... :P

Another added bonus that the DVD release came with was the omake CD. Now THAT certainly made me MORE than ecstatic. First up was a hilarious parody of the Inuyasha gang, in which Sesshoumaru decides that he's had it with being robbed of airtime in the first and second movies. So he decides to kill off the producers of the show and rename it Sengoku O-Togi Zousshi: SESSHOUMARU! Of course, his little brother and the rest of the Inuyasha gang won't stand for that.

The other added tracks included on the omake CD include seiyuu chat (I've included two short clips on the media section of this website) which is a free-conversation between the seiyuu regarding the third movie "Tenka Hadou no Ken." Also indluded is the cast doing yet another parody of Inuaysha titled Rajio no naka no Mugenjou, "The Radio Within the Looking Glass," which was originally aired on the Japanese radio show "Anime Scramble" back in 2002.

Movie Comic Books

part 1

part 2

Part of the Shonen Sunday Visual Collection, the movie comic books are another great find. The collection is two volumes. Each book is full-color, and a little larger than tankoubon. These are books commonly referred to as "filmbooks" or "animanga," which use screencaptured images from the movie, and publish them like comic books.

Yes, I've read the dialogue while watching the movie, and while there are a few places where words don't match up word-for-word, it's still close enough. There are also a few short summaries and character descriptions included, but basically nothing you wouldn't know already. Sometimes it's nice to kinda be able to actually READ what the characters are saying. I just got it for reference and the images.
