Guren no Houraijima Goodies

This movie has grown to be my favorite (not entirely sure why). When I saw it in 2004, I was able to get a hold of several things that were available here during its roadshow in Japan, in addition to the usual collection of goodies that are released...

DVD Release - Japan

INUYASHA: GUREN NO HOURAIJIMA
Special Edition (DVD + bonus CD)
Shogakukan Video (8/26/2005)
Color, Region 2, Dolby Digital 5.1 ch

Ah, the first of the Inuyasha productions that came out after the anime ended in September 2004. As usual, the picture and sound clarity was fantastic. Experiencing it in the theater was one thing, but having it at home to enjoy was another. ^_^ Especially with some of the fun stuff that was added.

A few interesting added bonuses this time around. My favorite two being a collection of the main cast's memorable lines and scenes, and a "hybrid movie" that was created using the manga events that have transpired since the anime ended. The other bonus features include commercials and TV spots that were used to promote the release of the movie in Japan, and screens of the concept art from the movie.

As always, the special edition of the DVD also came packaged with an omake CD. This year, having no anime or new movie to promote, the CD only includes the cast's traditional "Anime Scramble" Inuyasha parody that was aired on the radio and used to promote the movie in December 2004. This year's was called "Guren no Hourai-land."

And, as usual, I think Kappei Yamaguchi is totally strung up on sugar. But same goes for Kumiko Watanabe. XD Here we have Inuyasha and company heading for the the amusement park "Hourai-land!" And naturally, they have their annual run-in with Nobi-nobi PAPA (played by Anime Scramble hose Nobi-san). This all leads to a huge transform-off between Nobi-nobi-papa and Shippou!!

All I have to say is,"....korosu zo?" XD

Movie Comic Books

part 1

part 2

Part of the Shonen Sunday Visual Collection, the movie comic books are another good find. The collection is two volumes. Each book is full-color, and a little larger than tankoubon. These are books commonly referred to as "filmbooks" or "animanga," which use screencaptured images from the movie, and publish them like comic books.

The second volume of the comic collection does include the scenes of the epilogue.
