EAR-TWEAK
SPEAK & RANDOM YASHANESS
November/December, 2005
Three
Weeks and Counting...
December
5 , 2005
Woo.
Only three weeks left until Christmas. Been busy with holiday
shopping and card-writing.
But
between that and other real-life antics... there's always time
for Inuyasha goodness. So!! What an awesome week it's been for
Inuyasha, no? Chapter 436
(from November 30) marked Inuyasha's 9th anniversary, and the
series going into its 10th year of publication. That's... a LONG
time, huh? Heehee.
So
some fellow Yasha fans and I were chatting on the forum about
some of the most memorable moments that have happened over the
course of the series. Ah, leave it to discussions like that to
get me to go back and re-read some of the older chapters, and
watch some of the first anime episodes... it just reminds me of
WHY this series, well, became my favorite.
How about it, everyone? Can you remember some of your favorite
moments over the course of the series? It was really hard narrowing
it down, but I still think that my favorite moment of all is page
12 of Chapter 355:
"Could you hold me up... just a little longer..."

With
Inuyasha off the air except on reruns on Animax, I actually don't
watch it as much anymore, but that episode (166-167) is always
one I just throw into the DVD player just for Ol' Time's Sake.
Episode 51 and 52 are also among my two favorites. Those were
the two that first got me into collecting the Japanese DVDs ("They
were like potato chips, I couldn't stop at having just one...").
There's Kappei Yamaguchi's absolutely insane cackle when Inuyasha
was reawakened in episode 1. Man, that sent chills down my spine
and, as I had watched that episode only after having read the
manga, I still remember thinking, "Holy crap, that IS Inuyasha!!"
Then
we have more recent events, like Kagura and Hakudoushi's death.
And then there's the Almighty Swordie-sword-swords Progression;
the Meidou Zangetsuha, and Inuyasha FINALLY mastering the
Dragon-Scaled Tessaiga.
Tonight,
Animax aired Tenka Hadou no Ken, which I haven't watched
in a little while. And even that movie brings back fond memories.
Well, a lot having to do with the gradual fall into the clutches
of Inu-papa worship, but... eh-heh. ^^;
So
in light of Inuyasha's 10th year, it's always good to see new
things happening with the series.
The
other day I went down to the Kanda Myoujin, in Ochanomizu. The
shrine is carrying exclusive Inuyasha-design omamori (good
luck charms), to bring you Inuyasha's strength and spirit. Heehee.

"Ore
ga omae o mamoru ttsu tte n da!!"
Two
Kotobukiya Figures...
November
23, 2005
Busy
few weeks here... but meh, that's usually the case. Been trying
to find the time and/or motivation to get lots of stuff done, and
that kinda pushes working on fun things (like Ear-Tweak) onto the
backburner. But oh well. Such is life. ^^
The
other week, I was down at Animate in Ikebukuro and much to my surprise
-- since I wasn't expecting them out until 2006 -- I found the new
series of Kotobukiya figures (Sango, Miroku, and Sesshoumaru) were
already on the shelf for sale!! So it wasn't even worth a second
throught. Me being the Sango fan that I am, she was the first one
I brought home.

Returned
a few days later to get the Lecherous Monk, who would be the the
final figure to complete my Kotobukiya-Ikkou collection.

Heehee,
what can I say. I love toys!! She who dies with the most toys...
well, still dies... but at least I got to have fun taking pictures
before I die, right? Kutabaru mae ni sore shashin o toru yo.
XD
And
a Hanyou Pinned to a Sacred Tree...
November
3 , 2005
Today
is actually a holiday here. "Bunka no Hi," or "Culture
Day." Not that it makes much of a difference, though. Been
a bit duffed up on Dayquil becuase I seem to have come down with
a rather annoying cold. XP It's the kind where I'm obviously not
bedridden but MAN, the body sure ain't showin' any love right about
now. Hehehe.
So,
what can I say... I absolutely love autumn and I love winter. Hell,
I think there's something about every season that I really look
forward to.
Last
weekend Roy and I headed down to Mitake, which is a bit west of
Tokyo, to check out the momiji. Still a bit early for the really
dramatic color changes, but we saw a few bright red maple standing
out amidst the green. Quite a lovely sight. :) And the week before
that, we headed out to Nikko, a bit north of Tokyo. One of the shrines
there had a large, absoluetly beautiful goshinboku on the grounds.
And me being the silly person I am, I just had to go up and touch
it.
"Kanjiru...
Inuyasha o... kanjiru..."

This particular
shrine also boasted a display room with an ENORMOUS Japanese sword.
I swear the thing was at least 8 feet long. So you can bet I was feeling
"Inuyasha presence" everywhere on the grounds. Becuase...
that's just the way my one-track-mind thinks sometimes. Heehee.
In other
news...
Aimee,
who sent me the lovely pictures of her two adoreable little shibas last
year (dressed as Shippou and Inuyasha), wrote to me recently to let
me know about two more shibas who were in search for forever-homes at
the shiba inu rescue she works at. And their names... Kirara and Kappei!
XD Oh, how that made me smile insanely. Best of luck to them! :D
And finally.
We also went to the Goukakenran 5 on Sunday, which is a large fan-run
event centering around Rumiko Takahashi's works, mostly focusing on
Inuyasha and Ranma 1/2. A lot of doujinshi and cosplay there. Heehee.
As always, it was really great to see enthusiasm revolving around the
Inuyasha series. :)
