PART 3: Putting things together

BACKGROUND CREATION!

I could give a whole separate tutorial on how I made the background. Basically, this was all painted in Photoshop. Altogether, it took me a little over two hours.

I used a purely fantasy setting to realize what I thought being inside of the Shikon Jewel would be like. Originally the colors were more of a red and white, but the purple and yellow seemed to work better.

I guess the important thing about this step is to treat the background as a set. Sometimes my backgrounds are true surroundings, where there's no central place for the characters to be. This background is more of a "stage" setting, where there's a clear place for the characters.

The resolution on this was about three times what the finished piece was going to be.

COMPOSITING

WHEE! Now everyone is together in one big happy family!

This part took a bit of tweaking to get the characters set up the way I wanted. Honestly, I still don't know if I like it, but the reaction has been good overall, so I guess I'll just leave it like that. Heh-heh.

I also realized here that human Inuyasha was a little too big in comparison to the couple, so I shrank him down a little.

Here I also added a few magic effects to connect the two subjects together. That's all just done using the airbrush and paintbrush tools again.

I also added in Kagome's reflection, as well as some glowing aura (trusty ol' airbrushing again) around Inuyasha

FINAL LIGHTING AND MAGIC EFFECTS

It took a little while to get the look I wanted here. Inuyasha is becoming a different form, so to give the effect of the transformation, I started desaturating and erasing the color in his arms, hair, and legs.

The light coming from his heart is also the light source here, so I added a little more of a glow around his chest. I also adjusted the opacity on the human Inuyasha to make him more transparent.

The rest of this step is just adding in more magic effects like sparkles and pretty stuff where they look nice.
