If
I ever had any "technical" questions about Inuyasha
characters, this is the book I refer to. Published by Shogakukan
and written with notes and discussions with Rumiko Takahashi,
this book is the official Inuyasha encyclopedia that details
the characters and manga events up until spring 2003 (Hakudoushi
was the newest character introduced at the time).
Ever
wonder where the "Inuyasha is 15 years old" claim
came from? It's this book. This book has many interesting things
to say. Some friends and I have been working on translating
parts of it, but as it's pretty detailed, and nearly 300 pages
long, it's slow going and naturally other things come up to
push this project back.
Below
I've put together descriptions of the book's sections and translated
a few excerpts. I love this book. ;)

Inuyasha
Ougikaidan: Sengoku Ayashi no Michiyuki
(Introduction and series "summary")
It
all began from a tragedy 50 years ago...
A
meeting that transcended time ------
The world of civil unrest, where youkai were prevalent. From
the modern world came a girl, who would meet a sealed hanyou
boy. The struggle of Good and Evil goes on, leading to a magical
jewel.
The
journey begins ------
The journey of the two to gather the shards of the crushed
Shikon. Awaiting them are many youkai with mighty powers.
Within vicious battle, the two grow closer together.
If
we're together ------
Yet unknown is the location of just one last fragment. Inuyasha
and the others continue to build their faith in each other.
Because no one is alone, they can fight. Together, they won't
give in.
